STUDENT NAME: Aimee Buckmasterunnamed

MAJOR: Criminal Justice: Corrections

CLASS OF (GRADUATION YEAR): 2017

NAME/ LOCATION OF INTERN SITE: Grace Place, Winona MN

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate Intakes, help with Community Service volunteers, record/create documents for the Grace Place, and promote Grace Place to a new audience.

HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT THIS INTERNSHIP?: I found this internship through an internet search. I had never heard of Grace Place so I didn’t know what to expect, but when I went in for my interview I really liked Grace Place and its mission.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST FAVORITE PART OF THE INTERNSHIP: My favorite part of this internship, thus far, has been the variety of projects I have gotten to work on. A close second would have to be the people I work with and the Bloedow’s Donuts every Tuesday and Thursday.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST CHALLENGING PART OF THE INTERNSHIP: I think the most challenging part has been separating my school life from my internship life. While they mix in some aspects, they require different types of thinking. I constantly feel like I am not 100% in either place.

WHAT’S BEEN THE BIGGEST LESSON(S): Ask questions now so you don’t have to redo a project later. Ask for feedback and give feedback of your own.

ADVICE TO OTHER STUDENTS PREPARING FOR AN INTERNSHIP: Don’t settle, if you’re interviewing for something that you don’t see yourself loving, keep looking. Pick something that excites you!
