Class Of (Graduation Year): 2019

Name/ Location Of Intern Site: Co-Op Intern at Dow DuPont Pioneer

Major Responsibilities: My major responsibilities will be working with the team to determine plant health and taking notes on plant growth later in the season.

How Did You Find Out About This Internship?: DuPont Pioneer has had a business in my hometown for many years and we toured the production plant in town when I was in high school. My older sister also interned there when she was in college 8 years ago.

What Has Been Your Most Favorite Part Of The Internship?: My favorite part of the internship has been the Double Haploid processing meetings with the corn research scientist. During these meetings I get a personal opportunity to learn about the process of plant breeding.

What Has Been Your Most Challenging Part Of The Internship?: So far the most challenging part of the internship has been planning the layout of the experiment I will be using for my senior research thesis.

What has Been The Biggest Lesson(S): Learning to interact with fellow workers in a merging business environment.

Advice To Other Students Preparing For An Internship: Make sure to get all of your paperwork in on time. Also, call before you start so that you know what is expected of you on your first day at work.

Anything Else You’d Like To Share: If it is at all possible, complete an internship during your undergraduate years. It will open your eyes to the everyday tasks of the career you plan to pursue as well as enhance your resume.
