Name: Sally Dotterwick

Job Title: Full-Time Day Campus Safety Officer – You can find sally Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Campus Safety office in the Toner Student Center.

Responsibilities:  The campus safety team during the day consists of Jason Mork (my boss) and about 5 different student workers.  My main responsibility is to be stationed at the desk as a ‘911 Emergency Respondent.’  Other duties include: monitoring fire alarms in buildings, making sure all the doors are activated and monitored, escorting people on campus, interacting with the SMU community, and completing various other office tasks.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?  Seeing the nice students on a daily basis and having a conversation with them as they are stopping or walking by the desk.  I really enjoy helping people and making sure I take everything a step further to give the most to someone who asks me a simple question.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?  Anything that involves my six grand kids!  I enjoy spending time with them by going to their games and watching them grow up.  I also like to travel– I take a yearly trip with family, but also enjoy small road trips.  The simple things in life make me the most happy!

Fun Fact(s):  I enjoy everything relating to the Green Bay Packers.  Football season is a whole different world for me.  I have so much Packers gear that I love to break out around that time.  Also, I really like monkeys. When I was a little girl I had a stuffed monkey.  Ever since then, my family has been obsessed with giving me monkey stuff.  I have everything from a monkey nail polish dryer to bedding and slippers– you name it, I have it with a monkey on it!
